AI’s ability to transform the healthcare arena is indisputable. We’re already seeing the technology alter how physicians engage with patients and scientists with data. For our second DOC poll, we wanted the DOC community to weigh in on where AI would prove the most transformative, whether that would be speeding up drug discoveries and diagnoses, uncovering personalized treatments, or giving physicians back time for patients.
Your responses revealed quite a few of us are chewing on this question. Even if we don’t agree on AI’s ultimate value, we all believe there’s merit to AI’s application in the science and medical sphere.

Your top choice, selected by 36.1 percent, was that AI would spot diseases sooner than doctors. One person highlighted AI’s ability to rapidly analyze large datasets, writing, “Prevention is always better than cure for improving outcomes and lowering cost.
One quarter of you believe AI’s greatest strength will be streamlining rote work for physicians, then giving that time back to patients. One CEO admitted AI tools were already in place at their cardiology practice to increase “efficiencies.” Next, 22.2 percent voted for AI uncovering not just personalized, precision treatments, but also, as one person remarked, “alternative therapies.”
Finally, 16.7 percent selected AI’s potential to speed up drug discovery. One commenter didn’t dispute the impact of AI in the other fields. But they felt its intrinsic value lay in finding new, effective treatments ”exponentially” faster than today.
Stay tuned for our next poll coming soon, with results in our August newsletter.
